Podcasts for Horror EnthusiastsScary Movies Discussed Intelligently with a Bunch of Raucous Humor
If you love everything horror, these podcasts will entertain and inform you at the same time.
There are thousands of podcasts available on a variety of subjects from grammar and cooking to gossip and technology. A small number of these are dedicated to horror, and out of those, only a few are worth listening to. Below I have listed those that are the most informative about the horror genre, are enoyable to listen to, and have the best production value. Night of the Living Podcast (NOTLP)This podcast makes me laugh aloud while informing me of the latest entertainment news regarding horror books, movies, and television. The show is hosted by Amy, Freddy, Andy, Chiseck, Erica, and Kelley. The banter that goes back and forth between the crew is excellent and often times hilarious. The language can be explicit so it is not for young children, but if you are into horror, that probably won’t bother you. To listen or subscribe to the podcast, check out their information-packed Website. Cadaver LabThis podcast is fairly new, but so informative and extremely hilarious. In fact, I must confess that I have become addicted to this fantastic podcast. Sam and Mike are two great guys who can be off color at times, but try to target the show to a general horror audience. Every week I can't wait to download the new Cadaver Lab episodes. Check them out at their very scary Website. Horror EtcKings Town Ted and Anthony host this wonderful show out of Canada. Both men are very well versed in entertainment and the film industry, but horror is their specialty. This show brings some class to the horror podcast genre, while being informative, humorous, entertaining, and fun. The show can be mildly explicit at times, but most often, it is just plain brilliant. You will find them by going to their Horror Etc Website. The SplattercastI have mixed feelings about this podcast, because at times it can be somewhat misogynistic and sexist. I tell myself I am going to stop listening mainly due to one member of the cast, Deejay, but am then drawn back into the crazy, hilarious, yet intelligent discussions of the Splattercast members. Most of the cast, such as Jeff and Mat, are broadcasting out of the Midwest, but the crew has a member in Memphis, Steve, and a new member, T.J., who is in Los Angeles, which gives the group some fresh insight. This group has even produced two independent movies. You can check those out along with their podcast by going to their Dead Lantern Website. Mail Order ZombieThis podcast is dedicated to all things zombies, including movies and books. Brother D hosts the show, while his wife Bren (Sister B) is a welcome addition reviewing books that have to do with the zombie genre. Both have unique and soothing voices made for broadcasting, so the podcast is very pleasant to listen to. The couple also demonstrates great chemistry and they have some shorter bonus podcasts that stray slightly from their focus on zombies, yet remain in the horror genre. You can go to their Mail Order Zombie Website and subscribe to their podcast. Enjoy! Those who love the horror genre in movies, television shows, and books, yet have a great sense of humor, should have a good time with these podcasts. So get out your mp3 player of choice, put in your headphones, sit back and enjoy. Horror has never been so entertaining and fun.
